Job Summary
The Director of Information Technology & Systems (IT&S) provides leadership, strategic planning, and oversight of all IT operations to support both clinical and business functions within the hospital and associated clinics. This role is responsible for managing infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems integration, end-user services, project management, and compliance with IT standards and regulations. The Director ensures effective use of technology in support of high-quality patient care and operational efficiency, while fostering innovation and aligning IT initiatives with the overall mission of the organization.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and execute hospital and clinic IT strategies aligned with enterprise objectives
  • Lead IT staff, projects, vendors, and operations, ensuring performance standards are met
  • Coordinate IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, application support, and disaster recovery plans
  • Support end-user computing including helpdesk, training, and device management
  • Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and security standards including HIPAA compliance
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to support clinical, operational, and financial IT initiatives
  • Manage IT budgets, vendor contracts, and resource allocations to maximize cost-effectiveness
  • Serve as the hospital's Facility Information Security Officer
  • Evaluate and implement new technology solutions to enhance operational and clinical performance
  • Ensure timely resolution of IT incidents and coordination of change management processes
  • Represent the hospital in enterprise-level IT committees, initiatives, and governance bodies

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
  • Strategic thinking and strong leadership in IT service delivery and project management
  • Advanced knowledge of hospital information systems, networks, and cybersecurity practices
  • Ability to manage high-impact technology projects and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive-level reporting
  • High degree of integrity, initiative, and collaboration with clinical and administrative leaders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and healthcare EHR systems
  • Frequent sitting, keyboarding, and use of computers and peripherals
  • Occasional lifting and moving of IT equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Rare exposure to biological and chemical hazards in clinical environments
  • Ability to respond to IT emergencies and support 24/7 IT operations

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a healthcare-related business field (Required).
  • Master's degree in a related field (Preferred).
  • A combination of relevant experience and demonstrated leadership tenure may be considered in lieu of a degree, at the discretion and approval of facility leadership.

Licenses/Certifications
  • Relevant certifications such as CPHIMS, PMP, ITIL-F, or vendor-specific technical certifications (Preferred)

Experience
  • Seven (7) years of experience in healthcare IT with progressive leadership responsibilities required.
  • Prior senior-level IT leadership experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Experience with clinical systems, infrastructure, budgeting and compliance preferred.
