Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $101,500.00 - $169,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. RapidScaleis seeking a Senior orLead CloudVMwareEngineerwho willberesponsible formaintainingthe health, performance, and reliability ofRapidScale'smanaged cloud environments.You willsupportthe stability and scalability of both domestic and international data centers, with a focus on VMware-based virtualization and core infrastructure technologies.

You havestrong technical depth, advanced troubleshooting skills, and the ability tooperatein a fast-paced, high-availability environment supporting enterprise customers.

What You Will Do

  • Support andmaintaincloud infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, backup, and monitoring systems

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and escalations, minimizing customer impact

  • Drive improvements in system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency

  • Partner with Architecture, Security, and Engineering teams to implement enhancements andmaintaincompliance

  • Develop andmaintaindocumentation, runbooks, and operational procedures

  • Ensure effective monitoring and alerting across infrastructure components

  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation supporting customer environments

Required Qualifications

  • Senior VMware Engineer- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field

  • Lead VMware Engineer-Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years' experience in a related field

  • Strong experience with VMware-based virtualization environments (vSphere,ESXi, vCenter)

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and manage escalations in high-availability environments

  • Experience performing root cause analysis and driving issue resolution

  • Willingness toparticipatein a 24x7 on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with VMware technologies such asvSAN, NSX or NSX-T, andvCloudDirector

  • Familiarity with VMware ecosystem tools (Aria Suite, SRM, Tanzu)

  • Experience with Cisco UCS infrastructure

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (VLANs, LACP)

  • Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell,PowerCLI)

  • Familiarity with public cloud environments (Azure, AWS) and VMware cloud solutions (AVS, VMC, Azure AVD)

  • Experience in managed services or enterprise customer environments

  • Experience handling Sev-1 incidents and delivering root cause analysis
