What are cousins?

Cousins are relatives who share a common ancestor, typically the children of siblings. For example, your first cousins are the children of your parents' brothers or sisters. The degree of cousin relationship can be described further, such as second or third cousins, depending on how many generations separate you from the common ancestor. Cousins can play important roles in families, often growing up together and sharing family traditions. Understanding cousin relationships can be helpful for family gatherings, genealogy, or legal matters.
