Job description

Custodian (Retail/Mall)

Triad Service Solutions is seeking dependable, hardworking Custodians to help keep the shopping center clean, safe, and welcoming for shoppers, tenants, employees, and visitors.

This is an active, hands-on position working throughout the mall, including common areas, food court areas, restrooms, entrances, and other assigned spaces.

Previous janitorial or custodial experience is a plus, but not required. We will train the right candidate! If you are reliable, take pride in your work, and are ready to learn, we encourage you to apply.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain mall common areas, including corridors, entrances, seating areas, stairways, and other assigned spaces
  • Clean and maintain food court areas, including tables, chairs, floors, trash receptacles, and common surfaces
  • Clean and sanitize public restrooms and maintain cleanliness throughout the shift
  • Replenish restroom supplies, including soap, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, paper towels, and other necessary supplies
  • Empty trash receptacles, replace liners, and transport waste to designated disposal areas
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and maintain floors
  • Spot clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture
  • Clean glass doors, windows, panels, sills, and other glass surfaces
  • Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, equipment, ledges, trim, and other surfaces
  • Clean and polish metalwork, marble surfaces, and fixtures
  • Clean walls, doors, and other surfaces as needed
  • Maintain areas surrounding elevators, escalators, and stairways
  • Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces throughout the property
  • Respond promptly to spills, trash, and other cleaning needs
  • Monitor assigned areas and address cleaning needs throughout the shift
  • Properly use and care for cleaning equipment, chemicals, materials, and supplies
  • Follow established safety, security, and cleaning procedures
  • Report hazards, maintenance concerns, or unsafe conditions to management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

This is an active, physically demanding position. Employees may be required to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift
  • Frequently bend, stoop, squat, reach, and perform repetitive movements
  • Push and pull cleaning carts, trash containers, and cleaning equipment
  • Lift, carry, move, and position items weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Use hands and arms to operate cleaning tools and equipment
  • Navigate stairs and varying floor or walking surfaces
  • Perform cleaning tasks requiring frequent movement and physical activity throughout the shift

Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

  • Previous janitorial, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience is a plus, but not required
  • No specific education or prior training required
  • Bilingual skills are not required
  • Dependable and punctual with consistent attendance
  • Able to follow instructions and respond to management direction
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Takes pride in maintaining clean and welcoming spaces
  • Follows safety procedures and properly uses cleaning equipment, chemicals, and materials

Work Environment

This position is performed primarily inside a shopping center and involves working throughout public and common areas.

Employees may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical equipment, wet or slippery surfaces, and other conditions associated with commercial janitorial work. Noise levels may vary based on mall activity.
