Teaching Associate of Physical Activity and Lifetime Skills
The Department of Kinesiology in the Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance at Coastal Carolina University invites applications to establish a Teaching Associate pool to support undergraduate instruction in Physical Activity and Lifetime Skills (PALS) courses. Appointments are made on an as-needed, semester-by-semester basis, with course assignments based on departmental needs and candidate qualifications.
PALS courses are activity-based offerings designed to promote lifelong physical activity, wellness, and skill development. Courses may include a variety of 1-credit activity courses such as fitness walking, group fitness, yoga, strength training, pickleball, and lifeguarding. Course offerings vary by semester. Responsibilities
• Teach undergraduate PALS courses using effective, student-centered instructional practices.
• Provide instruction in classroom, laboratory, and/or activity-based settings, as appropriate.
• Assess student learning and maintain accurate course records.
• Comply with all university, college, and departmental policies.
Minimum Qualifications
• Applicants must meet one of the following:
• Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a relevant discipline; or
• Bachelor's degree with appropriate alternative qualifications, as approved by the department.
• Alternative qualifications may include, but are not limited to, relevant coursework or training; professional certifications or licensure; documented excellence in teaching; and/or relevant professional or applied work experience. Candidates relying on alternative qualifications must submit documentation for review by the Department Chair.
Preferred Qualifications
• Teaching or instructional experience.
• Certifications relevant to physical activity, fitness, sport, wellness, or lifetime skills programming.
• Professional experience aligned with assigned course offerings.
