Position Overview
The Studio Arts and Gallery Coordinator supports the Visual and Studio Arts program by managing gallery installations, exhibitions, and building operations. This role involves coordinating art installations across the Barbara Walters Gallery and the Heimbold Visual Arts Center, providing logistical and administrative support, and ensuring spaces are safely maintained to professional standards. The Coordinator collaborates closely with artists, faculty, and students, fostering a vibrant arts community on campus.
Essential Duties Summary
Essential Functions
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of gallery exhibitions, including installation, de-installation, and lighting setup.
  • Communicate regularly with artists, curators, and faculty to ensure exhibitions align with program goals and timelines.
  • Oversee building operations, placing work orders for maintenance and addressing health and safety concerns proactively.
  • Design and distribute promotional materials for exhibitions and events, utilizing Adobe Creative Suite for print and digital media.
  • Document gallery exhibitions for departmental archives and social media platforms, enhancing program visibility.
  • Facilitate the transportation, installation, and condition reporting of artwork to and from campus galleries.
  • Support senior studio courses by assisting students with solo exhibitions, installations, and event promotion.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with large-format printing and technical support for promotional materials.
  • Maintain an inventory of gallery supplies and oversee their procurement in collaboration with the Visual Arts Services Manager.
  • Coordinate open studio events, managing logistics, layout, and equipment needs.
  • Collaborate with faculty to provide technical assistance and support for studio-based courses.
  • Manage the Heimbold Visual Arts Center's mailroom and public spaces, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of the Visual Arts program's web and social media presence.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Studio Art or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in gallery management, art handling, and installation.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and large-format printing.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate gallery tools and equipment safely.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements
