Job Summary

Branson Hills Golf Club is seeking a motivated Golf Course Assistant in Training (AIT) to join our year-round maintenance team. This developmental position is designed for an individual interested in advancing within the golf course maintenance profession. The AIT will have responsibilities similar to the other supervisory roles while gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of golf course maintenance, operations, and leadership.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Spray & Chemical Application

  • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides in accordance with label instructions, safety standards, and agronomic programs
  • Safely mix, handle, store, and apply chemicals
  • Calibrate, operate, clean, and maintain spray equipment
  • Maintain accurate chemical application and inventory records
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal pesticide regulations

Golf Course Maintenance & Operations

  • Perform daily maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, and edging greens, tees, fairways, and rough
  • Rake and maintain bunkers and native areas
  • Assist with daily course setup, including cup cutting, tee marker placement, and signage
  • Monitor irrigation systems, hand water turf, and assist with repairs
  • Participate in major maintenance projects such as aerification, topdressing, verticutting, and renovations
  • Safely operate and maintain a variety of golf course maintenance equipment

Training & Leadership Development

  • Work alongside the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to learn course management practices
  • Assist with crew oversight and task delegation as appropriate
  • Learn scheduling, planning, and problem-solving related to turf conditions and playability
  • Develop leadership, communication, and decision-making skills

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Golf course maintenance or turfgrass experience preferred
  • Turfgrass management education or coursework is a plus
  • Missouri pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and desire to advance within the golf industry
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Ability to safely wear PPE during chemical applications
