Job description

Job Description

Our vision is to enable profitable growth to Aramark’s Accounts by providing them with analytical assets that meet their needs as effectively and then efficiently as possible.  To achieve this vision, Aramark will deliver strategic data assets that enable our operators to maximize the hospitality experience for our consumers and clients.

We are seeking a Data Engineer who will work hands-on and collaboratively with our enterprise and line of business stakeholders to continue the evolution of our enterprise data platform and application stack. The successful candidate will design, build, and deliver cloud-native, service-oriented products that transform our data ingestion, processing, and analytics and AI-driven capabilities.

This is a hybrid role based at our Philadelphia headquarters. Candidates must be local to the area and willing to work onsite in a hybrid capacity.

Job Responsibilities
  • You will be directly writing, reviewing, and owning code, not delegating it. This role requires deep technical execution.
  • Design and ship high-performance, cloud-native data product components used across Aramark's enterprise and line-of-business teams.
  • Build and own reusable data platform capabilities, ingestion frameworks, and data products (via dbt, Azure Logic Apps/Function Apps, and Snowflake) that enable self-service analytics across the enterprise.
  • Design and operate highly reliable data pipelines with appropriate monitoring, observability, testing, and recovery mechanisms.
  • Architect and maintain integration and synchronization between source systems (on-premises and SaaS) and cloud-native platforms.
  • Develop scalable, well-modeled data transformation pipelines (dbt) that unlock analytical and AI-driven capabilities.
  • Establish and enforce data engineering best practices — including CI/CD for data, testing standards, and code review norms — across the team.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the strategic direction of our data engineering roadmap.
Qualifications

5-7 years of software development experience in the data domain, with hands-on proficiency across:

  • Python
  • Advanced SQL
  • Azure and/or AWS
  • ELT processes, including cloud-native ingestion/orchestration (e.g., Azure Logic Apps, Azure Function Apps, or equivalent) and building transformation pipelines (e.g., dbt or equivalent)
  • Data modeling and transformation frameworks (dbt or equivalent)
  • Data warehousing platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or equivalent
  • Experience with Apache Spark, real-time streaming technologies, or large-scale distributed data processing.
  • CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, GitHub Actions)

Experience designing, building, and operating production-grade data pipelines and data products at scale.

Strong understanding of data architecture, observability, testing, and engineering best practices.

You’re comfortable working across distributed teams and can influence technical direction with both engineers and non-technical business stakeholders. A BS or MS in Computer Science - or equivalent experience - is expected.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GenAI integration, LLM-enabled applications, vector search, or agentic workflows.
  • Prior experience in food service, hospitality, retail, or consumer-facing industries.
