Job Description:
The Sow Farm Manager to lead a 5,000-head sow production unit. Reporting directly to the Regional Production Manager, this hands-on leadership role is responsible for driving production performance, ensuring animal welfare, biosecurity, and regulatory compliance, leading and developing a team of 16-20 employees, and partnering with Human Resources on hiring, staffing, employee development, and performance management.
What You'll Do
  • Oversee daily production and operations of a 5,000-head sow unit
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of up to 21 employees
  • Manage employee performance, scheduling, training, and development
  • Partner with HR and the Regional Manager on hiring and staffing needs
  • Conduct weekly farm meetings to drive engagement and accountability
  • Collaborate with Nursery Service Manager on herd health and production metrics
  • Execute animal care programs including vaccination and medication plans
  • Ensure compliance with biosecurity, animal welfare, safety, and production policies
  • Monitor farm budgets, targets, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop and maintain annual business plans, updating quarterly
  • Participate in regional and system-wide meetings

What We're Looking For
  • High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience interpreting data and making sound operational decisions
  • Commitment to animal care, welfare, and industry best practices
  • Willingness to work Monday-Friday with some weekends and holidays

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to stand and move throughout barns for the majority of the day
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently (occasionally more with assistance)
  • Comfortable working in a farm environment with dust, odors, animal dander, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to safely work around livestock and farm equipment
