Job description

Newport Beach Country Club is seeking a professional, dependable, and service-oriented Unarmed Security Guard to join our team full-time.

Security at NBCC is about more than monitoring the property. Our Security team is an important part of the member experience. We are looking for someone who understands that a great security professional can be both welcoming and observant, approachable and confident, service-minded and safety-focused.

This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining a calm, professional presence and enjoys working in an upscale hospitality environment. We aren't looking for a "bouncer." We're looking for someone who sees themselves as a protector of the member experience.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain a professional and welcoming presence at the Club's entrance and throughout the property
  • Greet members and guests warmly while monitoring vehicles and individuals entering the property
  • Approach unknown vehicles or individuals professionally to determine their purpose for being on Club property
  • Conduct regular patrols of the clubhouse, parking lots, pool areas, cart paths, and surrounding property
  • Monitor activity throughout the property and identify potential safety, security, or maintenance concerns
  • Respond calmly and professionally to member concerns, unusual activity, and incidents
  • Assist with traffic flow, parking, and access control during busy periods and special events
  • Complete accurate and detailed Daily Activity Reports (DARs) and Incident Reports
  • Assist with package deliveries while patrolling the clubhouse
  • Communicate effectively with other Security team members and Club departments by radio and in person
  • Support emergency response procedures, including medical and safety-related incidents
  • Maintain a visible but unobtrusive presence that helps members and guests feel comfortable and secure
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the safety, security, and operation of the Club

What We're Looking For

  • Valid California Guard Card required
  • Previous security experience preferred; experience in a private club, hotel, resort, residential community, corporate setting, or other hospitality-focused environment is a plus
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Calm approach to handling difficult or unexpected situations
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail
  • Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when a situation should be handled independently and when management should be involved
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Comfortable approaching and speaking with members, guests, vendors, and unknown individuals in a professional manner
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to complete clear, accurate written reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively by radio, telephone, and in person
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Schedules may vary based on Club operations. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required based on business needs.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Regularly stand and walk for extended periods while patrolling indoor and outdoor areas
  • Navigate stairs, walkways, parking areas, cart paths, and occasionally uneven surfaces
  • Occasionally lift, carry, or move items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Observe activity throughout the property and review written and electronic information
  • Communicate effectively in person and through telephone and radio communication
  • Respond promptly to incidents and emergency situations, which may require periods of increased physical activity
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions, including heat and sun exposure

Why NBCC?

At Newport Beach Country Club, every team member contributes to the experience we provide our members. Security is no exception. You'll join a team where professionalism, hospitality, attention to detail, and taking care of people matter.
