Job description

Job Title: Inspector

Department: Housekeeping

Reports To: Housekeeping Manager

Summary: Inspectors oversee the work of housekeeping staff, motivate team members, inspect hotel guestrooms, bathrooms, corridors and lobbies to ensure they are clean, orderly and attractive. Responsibilities include training employees, assigning and directing work; rewarding and correcting employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtain list of rooms which need to be cleaned in order to prepare work assignments
  • Assign work to cleaning personnel and trains personnel in housekeeping duties
  • Issue supplies and equipment to workers
  • Inspect work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness
  • Record inspection results and notifies cleaning personnel of inadequacies
  • Post room occupancy records and rooms ready for occupancy
  • Investigate complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment
  • Examine carpets, drapes and furniture for stains, damage or wear
  • Check and count linens and supplies
  • Inventory supplies and equipment to ensure adequate levels
  • Assist in performing cleaning duties
  • Report to maintenance needed repairs or unsafe conditions
  • Greet and acknowledge guests
  • Perform other duties as assigned; including guest room tours, special guest requests, etc.

Requirements:

  • One year of housekeeping experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time with or without accommodation
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reading and writing abilities
  • Basic math skills
