2025-26 Costume Shop Assistant
Principal Responsibilities
-Assist in building costume "looks" for characters as necessary for the costume designer, director, and production team to review during the production process.
As a costume assistant, you'll have the chance to Assist with fittings, learn how to pin alterations, and contribute as needed, providing a valuable learning experience.
-Assist in creating and maintaining the production bible for shows.
-Assist in cleaning and tracking makeup, wigs, and other hair goods with "Wig & Hairpiece Chart, with the possibility of building and styling hairpieces.
-Assist in selecting all costume accessories such as jewelry, shoes, hats, etc.
-Assist in finding, selecting, or altering all clothing.
-Assist in creating wardrobe plots for productions. For example, include tracking pieces that must be laundered, pressed, and steamed every performance.
They assist in the strike or closing of a show, taking notes on which pieces need to be sent to dry cleaning, which will be returned to stock, and help coordinate any borrowed or rented costumes.
-Assist in creating the production work calendar and note all due dates.
-Assist in costume fittings with the costume designer/Costume shop manager to take notes on changes and alterations.
