About Us

Join a talented team of engineering professionals at Vogt Power International Inc. Vogt is based in Louisville, KY and specializes in the design, manufacture and supply of equipment and solutions to the power generation industry. We are an industry leader in heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) with both domestic and international customers.

Position Summary

The Cost Estimator provides timely and accurate cost estimates for proposals and assists in maintaining and improving the estimating process and tools.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Develops proposal cost estimates for company products for both Capital and Aftermarket sales.
  • Create "As Sold" project budget information for Projects.
  • Supports Sales/Supply Management to develop detailed Work Scopes to obtain quotations on proposals and projects.
  • Reviews actual vs. estimated costs on projects and reports back to project/proposal team.
  • Evaluates and improves estimating procedures and assists in the development and maintenance of the estimating programs.
  • Prepares price inquiries to outside vendors and incorporates it into appropriate databases.
  • Identifies cost reduction opportunities and participates and/or initiates cost reduction efforts.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, design/drafting or related field. Experience with heat transfer products a plus.
  • High level EXCEL experience (including but not limited to creating pivot tables, writing formulas, writing macros, and data automation) preferred.
  • Experience in PowerBI preferred.
  • Must be organized and able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously and respond quickly to requests.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Two years of higher education in technical or business area preferred.
  • Must be able to travel (domestic/international) when required.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
