Job description

The Cost Engineer prepares cost analyses, estimates, and quotations that support new program launches, evaluating material, labor, and overhead costs across fabrication and assembly processes. This role partners closely with Purchasing, Marketing, and Sales to align target costs with program requirements and budget expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

●       Prepare cost analyses evaluating material, labor, and overhead costs for part fabrication and assembly

●       Analyze blueprints, photos, charts, and other data to estimate and set target costs

●       Assess cost effectiveness of products and projects, coordinating with other functions to adjust estimates

●       Maintain records for product cost and burden rate source documents

●       Conduct time studies to establish labor estimate standards

●       Break down components from drawings and complete Requests for Quotation for Purchasing

●       Prepare Process Design sheets and quotations for Marketing and Sales

●       Estimate part weight and/or mold cost from drawings

●       Review raw material and labor requirements for budget purposes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

●       Bachelor's degree in engineering/science preferred, or equivalent experience in cost estimation, cost engineering, or cost accounting

●       Background in project management, financial analysis, cost accounting, and data analysis

●       Proficiency with MS Office, ERP systems, and financial analysis software

●       Thorough knowledge of product variance calculations and product costing structure

●       Strong interpersonal and analytical skills; able to work independently and overtime as required
