A Brief Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and implementing process efficiencies within our plant by utilizing Lean methodologies such as 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma. You will provide plant-wide support and become a subject matter expert in optimizing production processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective project execution. As the internal Process Engineer, you will oversee new projects, including bottle and label changes, new product lines, and production line improvements, while bridging the gap between account managers, production teams, and external customers. You will also be responsible for mapping material flows, conducting production data analysis, and recommending efficiency improvements.
What you will do
  • Provide comprehensive plant support by becoming a subject matter expert in key processes to ensure projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively from start to finish. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, while developing best practices, streamlined routines, and innovative solutions to enhance production rates, improve output quality, and reduce costs.
  • Identify the 7 wastes, reviewing total productive maintenance, creating loss analysis and compiling downtime charts using Six sigma tools (Problem Solving, Failure Mode and Effective Analysis (FMEA) Process Mapping, Value Added Flow Analysis, Seven Wastes, Takt time, 5S, Value System Mapping).
  • Manage new projects coming to the site, such as bottle changes, label updates, and new product lines. Coordinate between on site Account Managers and key departments-batching, inventory, production, quality, and warehouse-to ensure smooth project execution. Map material flows, identify touch points, and recommend process improvements for greater efficiency. Collaborate with Account Managers to communicate with external customers on project needs, including line trials, while collecting and analyzing production data to document and design more efficient production processes.
  • Performance of Installation Qualification (IQ), Operation Qualification (OQ), and Product Qualification (PQ).
  • Observe Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP).
  • Participating in Safety & Quality Audits.
  • Some duties may vary slightly by location.

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in science, engineering or chemical engineering (Preferred)
  • Will consider recent graduates with 5S/Lean/Six Sigma/Kaizen training and/or experience (Preferred)

Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years Working in a fast-paced regulated company strongly desired; experience in the cosmetics/personal care manufacturing industry preferred (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years Proven track record of successful implementation of manufacturing process improvements (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years Experience with AutoCad, MiniTab & SolidWorks (Preferred)

Skills and Abilities
  • 5S, Kaizen, and Lean Methodologies: In-depth understanding of process improvement tools like 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Lean principles, enabling continuous improvement and efficiency in manufacturing processes. (Medium proficiency)
  • Knowledge of project management techniques, especially as it relates to managing projects from conception to completion, including the ability to oversee internal and external stakeholders. (High proficiency)
  • Familiarity with GMP and regulatory requirements, particularly in a fast-paced and regulated industry such as cosmetics or personal care. (High proficiency)
  • Understanding of how to analyze, map, and optimize production processes for increased efficiency and cost savings. (Medium proficiency)
  • Knowledge of standard data analysis methods to assess production accuracy, line design, and vendor performance, and the ability to apply this data for process improvements. (Medium proficiency)

  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills, enabling the ability to evaluate production data, create diagrams, and recommend process improvements. (Medium proficiency)
  • Proficient in communicating across different departments (e.g., account management, production, quality, and warehouse) and liaising with external clients to ensure successful project completion. (High proficiency)
  • Effective in managing multiple projects simultaneously, particularly new product introductions or changes, and coordinating various functions within the plant. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions that improve production rates, quality, and cost-efficiency. (Medium proficiency)
  • Comfortable using computer systems and software tools for managing data, analyzing processes, and communicating across teams. (Medium proficiency)

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, both internally and externally, to drive successful project outcomes. (High proficiency)
  • Keen attention to detail, particularly in managing production data, vendor performance, and new project implementation. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to take ownership of continuous improvement initiatives and process changes within the plant. (Medium proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification-IASSC or LEAN equivalent is desirable (Preferred)
