Job description

Job Purpose:
Our Corrugated Sales Specialist is responsible for supporting the Field Sales organization and closing profitable sales of corrugated packaging solutions. This role will provide subject matter expertise and skill to our Sales team in how to increase sales with new and existing customers by creating value through custom corrugated designs, finding cost savings, and improving packaging processes.
Job Responsibilities:
• Work to increase profitable sales within corporation in collaboration with Design Centers, Sales Managers, Sales Representatives, Sourcing, Logistics/Operation Managers and other Sales Specialists.
• Develop new business in the assigned geography by targeting key accounts in collaboration with Sales Managers and with Field Sales Representatives in customer accounts. Assist reps close corrugated and folding carton business to support and grow existing customers.
• Ensure that corrugated and folding carton sales pipeline is maintained with appropriate dollar value of opportunities to achieve the sales growth objectives for assigned territory. Also, responsible for being sure the pipeline is maintained with complete, accurate, and timely details pertaining to each opportunity, in collaboration with primary sales rep.
• Prepare and present technical proposals of how Veritiv's products can meet those needs and be integrated and implemented with the customer's systems and equipment.
• Visit and survey major customers, prospect facilities and develop cost reduction alternatives to current customer practices.
• Develop and manage positive local relationships between corrugated suppliers, sheet plants, and other vendors; makes suggestions regarding rationalization of new/existing vendors.
• Rationalization of any local suppliers must meet approval of Director of Sourcing and Director of Sales for Corrugated.
• Provide training to sales, customer service, and merchandising on topics related to corrugated and folding carton sales.
• Coordinate any customer samples needed with corrugated designers and sample departments.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:
• Must be creative and innovative.
• Must have extensive corrugated sales background, with corrugated manufacturing and structrual design experience strongly preferred.
• Sales experience working with fiber based packaging, including paperboard, corrugated, and laminated fiber/film substrates required. Experience in fiber packaging design and graphics, preferred.
• Role requires up to 75% travel.
Work Experience:
• 10-15 years of related job experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
• Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
• Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.
• Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.
• Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM is preferred.
• Must possess a thorough understanding of the distribution business.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).
• Strong planning and organization skills are required.
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Physical Requirements:
• A significant portion of the job responsibilities will require computer work that involves the continuous use of the fingers, hands, wrists, and sitting for long periods of time.
• The position also requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
• The position requires work in an office as well as travel to customers, suppliers, group meetings, etc.
