Duration: 52 weeks
Shift: 5x8 Nights
Pay: $2119.20/week
Completion Bonus: Up to $7,500 total. ( You will receive $2,500 after the successful completion of each of your first 3 contracts with us)
Job Description:
We are seeking highly skilled and versatile Registered Nurses (RNs) for a correctional medical center setting. This demanding role is responsible for the comprehensive health care of 20-60 bedridden inmates/residents who present with general, dialysis, and mental health needs. The RN acts as a primary care manager, charge nurse, and emergency responder, overseeing all direct nursing care, specialized procedures, staff direction, and critical documentation across their assigned shift.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Make daily rounds, evaluate care needed and rendered, and implement patient care plans. Responsible for the overall health care of 20 to 60 bedridden inmates/residents.
  • Administer and document prescribed medications, including narcotics, following strict inventory control procedures.
  • Perform specialized technical/clinical procedures within the scope of licensure, including:
    • IV Therapy & Blood Transfusions
    • Dialysis (patient care management)
    • Chemotherapy (administration)
    • Wound Care
    • Oxygen Therapy
    • Intubation & CPR (Organizes and oversees 'code blue' team)
    • Tube Feeding, Catheterization, Suctioning, and Phlebotomy.
  • Organize and oversee the 'code blue' team and direct healthcare staff (e.g., Hospital Aides and LPNs) assigned to the area. Acts as the lead worker in charge of the assigned shift in the absence of a Nurse 2 employee.
  • Assist the physician in giving diagnostic health evaluations to patients.
  • Charts and records all medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information. Completes required reports (incident/accident reports) and documents Medicaid information.
  • Arranges for out-patient clinic appointments, medical examinations, and new/refilled prescriptions through local pharmacies.
  • Maintains constant and exact inventory of all controlled drugs, medication, and equipment.
  • Serves as a liaison within the organization, conducts/attends meetings, and serves as an instructor or member of problem-solving teams on occasion.

Qualifications:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Ohio.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Previous correctional, mental health, or high-acuity medical-surgical experience preferred
  • COVID vaccine and recent TB test are required.
