Certified Medical Assistant – Corrections
Location: Shelton, WA
Pay: $30/hour (local)
Start Date: June 15, 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift (40 hours/week)

We are hiring a Certified Medical Assistant to support a correctional facility in Shelton, WA. This is a full-time contract role with a consistent weekday schedule and strong extension potential. This position is ideal for candidates who are dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working in a structured, secure environment.

Position Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant will assist with daily clinical operations, supporting healthcare delivery within a correctional setting. You will work closely with nursing and medical staff to ensure timely and appropriate care for patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with basic clinical duties including vital signs and patient intake
  • Collect and document medical histories and treatment information
  • Support providers during examinations and procedures
  • Administer medications and assist with treatment plans as directed
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
  • Follow all facility policies, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines
  • Collaborate with healthcare and custody staff to ensure coordinated care
Requirements
  • Active Washington State Medical Assistant certification OR nationally certified with willingness to obtain WA certification
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to pass a drug screen including THC
  • Comfortable working in a correctional facility environment
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Good telephone communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of medical procedures
  • Knowledge of clerical functions
  • Current CPR card (if applicable)
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray (if applicable)
  • Current Health Certificate (if applicable)
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification preferred
  • Minimum of one year relevant experience preferred.
  • Relevant certification/ license if applicable.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
