Job description

What to Expect in the Role: 

  • Develops, maintains and manages the execution of the service department strategic business plan for the organization 
  • Creates and monitors annual service department goals and budget for the entire organization, in alignment with the organization's financial and operational objectives 
  • Develops, communicates, enforces, and monitors effective service department processes to ensure customer satisfaction as well as service department performance 
  • Monitors service department performance relative to labor sales and expense control across the organization in line with the organization's objectives    
  • Develops, implements and reviews the service department employee compensation plans 
  • Creates and facilitates the execution of the service department marketing plan including advertising, marketing and promotional programs to grow labor sales for the organization 
  • Reviews the organization's customer satisfaction program to enhance and maintain customer relationships and training relative to service support 
  • Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for the Service Department 
  • May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge 
  • Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities 
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion 
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments 
  • Maintains knowledge of John Deere and competitive products 

What We Will Be Needing From You: 

  • Ability to perform basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred  
  • Experience leading a team and working cooperatively in a team environment 
  • Analyze and interpreting internal reports 
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred 
  • 7+ years of experience working in a service department; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred 
  • Experience with off road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment 
  • Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes 
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred
