CORPORATE ACCOUNTING MANAGER - STEAK 'n SHAKE

CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Steak 'n Shake's Corporate Accounting Manager understands thecorporate mission and within that framework plays a critical role in support ofAccounting and Operations. Core Duties include 1) management of all revenuechannels and cash operations, 2) overseeing account administration, oversightof financial institution relationships including banks and merchant processors,3) reviewing and reconciling point-of-sale (POS) transactions and ensuringdataflow integrity, 4) assisting the Cash Team Lead with the daily storedeposit and reconciliation process, forecasting and management of all cashoperations, 5) management of corporate financial reports, including monthlyconsolidation and eliminations, 6) international accounting, 7) specialprojects as needed including cost-benefit analysis of services, implementationof new technology, and process improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CorporateAccounting Manager duties include reconciling, recording, researching,monitoring, and analyzing both revenue and cash activity across the Steak 'nShake banking platform; establishing and maintaining bank accounts and servicesaccording to Treasury Controls; supporting Accounting and Operations with allthings related to banking and armored carrier services; and establishing andmaintaining strong partner relationships, both internal and external.

Overseeand maintain issuance of corporate and store financial reports, includingmonthly consolidations, eliminations, and allocations.

Responsiblefor ERP maintenance, including setup of new accounts, projects, allocationstructures, and other maintenance required across the accounting department.

Preparinga daily cash forecast plan and monitoring to that plan, which includescommunicating across functional departments and providing updates as needed toCAO and CEO.

Ensureboth legal and ethical compliance upholding a fiduciary duty to theorganization and ensure risk-management tactics are sufficient to ensuresafeguarding and control of liquid assets.

Responsiblefor preparing and calculating gift card breakage estimate.

Overseeand maintain accounting records for international business in France, byworking closely with international accounting firm and adjusting for any USGAAP differences, as well as managing fx translation and revaluation to USD.

Coremember of the day-to-day support team and financial close process, responsiblefor activities that include, but are not limited to:

o Understand banking hierarchy andmanage cash transfers and sweeps

o Oversee monthly bank and merchantprocessor reconciliations for all corporate and store level accounts

o Assist Cash Accounting Team Lead withinvestigation of cash over and short issues, POS questions, and technicalassistance with ERP and other IT related systems

o Ensure SOX compliance and providesupport for internal and external audits

o Thorough knowledge of journal entrypreparation and account reconciliation

o Understanding of the banking andarmored carrier industries as they relate to product offerings, services, andfees

o Update and maintain StandardOperating Procedures in conjunction with Accounting and Internal Audit

o Perform day-to-day cash activities asneeded to support Cash Accounting Team Lead

o Produce and analyze bankreconciliation data and reports to resolve cash discrepancies, identify trends,and potential misappropriations

o Work directly with leadership toresolve operational queries

o Ensure both legal and ethicalcompliance upholding a fiduciary duty to the organization, and ensurerisk-management tactics are sufficient to ensure safeguarding and control ofliquid assets

Leadupcoming reconciliation software conversion for credit card and gift cardreconciliation

Playa role in the Company's planned journey for software evolution, which includesincorporating AI into existing or new processes to gain efficiency and replacebasic tasks with more insight and analysis to provide value beyond the corefunction of accounting.

Identifyimprovement opportunities across the Organization's functions, determinealternative courses of actions with those function leaders and implementprocess improvement

Continuousgoal is to reduce "inefficiencies" in processes and identify cost and timesavings

AssistController and Principal Accounting Officer with requests or projects as neededby Finance, Accounting, and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

-Bachelor'sdegree in accounting, finance, or related field

-5+years of experience, preference in A/R, Revenue, Cash, CorporateConsolidations, or Treasury Management

o Either CPA, CMA, CFA, or CTP a plus

-Proficientwith Microsoft applications, including Excel

-Adaptabilityand flexibility as priorities change and job responsibilities broaden withincreased knowledge/experience
