Job description

Akerman LLP seeks an associate with 3 to 5 years of transactional franchise experience. This is an opportunity to join an expanding national franchise practice that values collegiality. The ideal candidate must have a desire to learn and grow in serving the franchise community, and experience with FDDs, franchise agreements, franchise registrations, default and termination issues, and miscellaneous franchise regulatory, relationship, and compliance matters. Experience with mergers and acquisitions in the franchise space, international franchise licensing transactions, and dispute resolution would be a plus. Excellent legal research, writing and analytical skills are required. The position can be based in any of the firm's offices (remote/flexible work arrangement are available). Qualified candidates must have a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school and bar admission (or eligibility to obtain admission promptly) in the jurisdiction of resident office location.


Annual base salary: $270,000 - $385,000 (Akerman LLP is not a lock-step firm. The exact amount of salary for this position is dependent on a variety of factors). In addition to base salary, Akerman offers an annual discretionary bonus, paid time off, professional and client development allowance, medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, 401k Profit Sharing Plan (employee-only contribution plan), and a pre-tax transit or parking benefit (depending on location).
