Job Description

Our Pet Resort is hiring various staff members that will cover a variety of areas from the front desk receptionist, pet daycare, and kennel tech responsibilities.  If you enjoy a diverse work environment and love pets, you'll fit right in here at Blue Ridge. 

Various schedules are available.  Normally these are 8 hours schedules.  Mornings, Mid-day and PM

Qualifications

Overall Requirements

  • Must be willing to work weekends and Holidays
  • Must have transportation

Reception Qualifications

We are looking for someone that is personable and has great social skills. Receptionists are the face of the business and must be comfortable greeting clients and dealing with confrontation in a professional manner. Some skills we look for are as follows;

1) Professional Appearance

2) Hardworking and able to work under fast-paced pressure situations.

3) Able to multitask

4) Professional communication skills - Oral and written

5) Kind and outspoken (not shy and comfortable chatting with clients)

6) Comfortable with and knows the way around a computer as well as excel and word

7) Comfortable answering the phone to help clients.

8) Animal lover - Clients love it when the receptionist dote on animals.

9) Comfortable handling cash drawer and credit card machine

10) Organized

11) Able to prioritize client service before busywork

12) Team player and willing to work with others to best assist clients.

13) Willing to be trained and able to receive and incorporate constructive feedback.

Kennel Qualifications

1) Hardworking

2) Ok under stressful situations

3) Can handle cleaning animal waste including but not limited to feces, urine, vomit, and other animal bodily fluids.

4) No animal allergies or allergies to bleach and cleaners

5) No injuries - Must be able to do heavy lifting scrubbing and cleaning and lifting animals out of crates and into baths.

6) Flexible work schedule (am shifts 5:45am - 2:45pm, pm shift 1:30pm - 10:30pm.)

7) Team player and self-motivated - Should be able to take instructions from shift supervisors but also be able to stay self-motivated while cleaning and attending to their assigned wards.

8) Willing to learn

9) Animal handling experience is welcome but not required if willing to learn.

10) Respect for animals and the cautions and dangers that come along with the job.

11) Willingness to learn and be trained as well as receive constructive feedback to better animal husbandry skills.
