Job description

Here at RiverStone Group, we have spent the last 125+ years working to be the best at what we do.ย  Through our various high quality products, we provide the building blocks used to construct and beautify the homes, schools, and businesses that people in our community encounter every day!ย 

We have an immediate full-time opening for a Utility Operator at our Vermillion location, in Oglesby, IL. This is a day shift position with hours varying to due to operational/seasonal needs. Candidates must be dependable and available to work overtime as needed. This is an Operator position through Local 150.

Core Utility Operator responsibilities include (but not limited to);

  • Assist yard loader, when needed, to ensure the timely loading of customers
  • Stockpile material as needed
  • Clean up waste piles around the yard and plant
  • Work with driller to prepare areas for drilling, stem shots, etc.
  • Cover for primary, secondary, scalp plants as needed
  • Work the pit, including (but not limited to); bail rock, road maintenance, and pit development

The ideal Utility Operator candidate will have:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A focus on safety and a strong work ethic
  • Experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment, including 992G, 980H, 844 Deere, and 800 Komatsu, excavator, boulder breaker, water wagon, skid steer, fork lift
  • A background in quarry operations is preferred
  • A strong mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency in fabrication and welding is preferred
  • A valid driver's license is preferred
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and rigorous physical activity in all weather conditions
