Reports To: Director of Athletics and After-School Programs
FLSA Status: Seasonal, Exempt
Pay: $700-850 stipend
Season: September 1 - October 31, 2026
Practices: Tuesdays, 3:20-4:30 p.m.
Games: Potential Dates (exact dates TBD)
September: 12, 13, 19, 16
October: 3, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25

Job Summary:
The 3rd-4th Grade Boys Soccer Coach is responsible for leading practices and coaching soccer games during the season. This role supports the athletic and personal development of student-athletes by promoting teamwork, skill-building, and sportsmanship in a positive and inclusive environment. The position collaborates closely with the Athletics and After-School department to align with school values and ensure a safe, engaging experience for all participants.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Plans and leads all Soccer practices for 3rd-4th grade boys teaching age-appropriate soccer fundamentals, techniques, and strategies.
  • Coaches all scheduled games, including travel to away games, while positively representing St. Thomas School.
  • Promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and individual skill development, and supports player growth aligned with program expectations and core competencies.
  • Ensures the safety, supervision, and well-being of all student-athletes.
  • Communicates clearly with players, families, and the school community about schedules, expectations, and team progress.
  • Partners with the Director of Athletics and After-School Programs to support program goals and team culture.
  • Manages equipment, as well as oversees set up and cleanup for practices and games.
  • Upholds and models the mission, values, and strategic priorities of STS.
  • Demonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
  • Adheres to school policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and After-School Programs.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in education, coaching, or a related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience coaching soccer, or equivalent playing experience, preferably with Elementary -age students.
  • Knowledge of youth athletic development, including age-appropriate skill building and sportsmanship.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment.
  • Ability to actively supervise student-athletes both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in activities such as bending, crouching, or sitting on the ground.
  • Readiness to obtain First Aid/CPR certification, and maintain throughout employment
  • Successful completion of required background checks in accordance with school policy and state regulations.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency with basic technology tools and a willingness to learn school-specific systems.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and community of STS.
