Job description

GRID Networks is seeking a Senior Core Network Engineer to join our mobile team. This role is critical to ensure the mobile network is healthy. Through automation, not just monitoring dashboards, you will tool the network. Must understand mobile network technology deeply (signaling, voice, SMS, data services, roaming) while looking for opportunities automate processes. You'll build the tools and automation that make network operations more efficient, more reliable, and less manual.

What You'll Do

  • Operations - Run day-to-day operations for the mobile network including monitoring, incident response, and troubleshooting across signaling, voice, SMS, data, and roaming.
  • Automation - Build tools and scripts that automate manual operational work: alerting, remediation, capacity and service checks, and routine network tasks.
  • Tool Development - Design and build internal tooling and dashboards for network monitoring, performance analysis, and QoS/KPI tracking.
  • Systems Integration - Integrate network elements, monitoring systems, and ticketing/alerting platforms through APIs and custom automation.
  • Roaming Operations - Support international roaming operations, including IREG/TADIG testing, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Process Improvement - Identify manual, repetitive operational work and replace it with automated, self-service, or self-healing solutions.
  • Collaboration - Work with network engineering, vendors, and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve reliability.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years in telecommunications or network operations, with hands-on experience supporting mobile network technologies.
  • Solid understanding of mobile network technology across generations (2G-5G and beyond) - signaling, voice, SMS, data services, and international roaming.
  • Programming experience in Python, Go, or a similar language, with a track record of building tools or automation, not just scripts.
  • Experience automating operational workflows: monitoring, alerting, remediation, or reporting.
  • Familiarity with SS7/MAP and Diameter signaling, IMS, VAS platforms, core network elements, ITU-T / 3GPP specifications, and GSMA recommendations, plus comfort working with APIs and operational data.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field - or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Practical, detail-oriented problem solver who's comfortable owning production issues end to end.
