We are looking for a Lab Supervisor to lead our team in the finishing department at Kaiser Aluminum Warrick Operations in Newburgh, Indiana.

What you will work on:
The Lab Supervisor will oversee the quality control operations within the Coil Finishing department, ensuring that all products meet our world-class standards. Key responsibilities include:
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and schedule a team of Lab Technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Quality Oversight: Oversee end-of-line product testing, including coating strip weights, lube weights, color analysis, physical properties, and adhesion testing.
  • Process Management: Ensure strict adherence to Good Lab Manufacturing Practices (GLMP) and maintain compliance with environmental and safety protocols regarding chemical handling (e.g., sulfuric acid, solvents).
  • Operational Excellence: Lead continuous improvement projects to optimize lab workflows, reduce turnaround times, and enhance data integrity.
  • Communication: Act as the primary liaison between the Laboratory and Production Centers to communicate quality trends, troubleshoot defects, and implement corrective actions.
  • Data Reporting: Utilize computer systems to maintain precise records, generate quality reports, and analyze test data to support production decisions.

What we are looking for:
  • Experience: 2 years' experience in a laboratory environment, preferably within manufacturing or heavy industry. Supervisory experience is highly preferred.
  • Degree: Bachelor's degree or 5 years' experience
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of testing procedures, chemical safety, and quality management systems.
  • Soft Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills are essential.
  • Schedule: This position operates on a standard Monday through Friday schedule.
