Job description

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Security Platform division, you will help build and operate OCI's Key Management Service (KMS), a foundational service that plays a critical role in protecting customer data across OCI services. KMS enables lifecycle management of cryptographic keys for OCI's customers and is built to meet high standards for security, scalability, availability, and compliance.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,200 to $209,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

As a Senior Member of Technical Staff, you will design, implement, test, debug, and operate components of OCI's Key Management Service. You will contribute to features and improvements across the KMS stack, including service APIs, backend workflows, distributed systems components, HSM integration, reliability improvements, and operational tooling.


You will:
    Design, implement, test, debug, and operate components of OCI's Key Management Service.
    Develop secure, scalable, and maintainable software for KMS services and related infrastructure.
    Contribute to features supporting key lifecycle management, cryptographic operations, encryption-at-rest, and service integrations.
    Troubleshoot production issues and participate in operational readiness, on-call support, incident response, and reliability improvements.
    Collaborate with principal engineers, architects, and partner OCI teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
    Write clear technical documents, design notes, runbooks, and operational guidance.

 Minimum Qualifications
    BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
    5+ years of software development experience, preferably with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, security services, or large-scale backend services.
    Strong programming skills in Java, C++, C, Go, or a similar systems/backend programming language.
    Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
    Strong ownership, communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
