Department: The Wellness Center-IWU Marion

Campus Location: The Wellness Center, Marion, IN

Summary of Position:    The Health & Wellness Center Manager oversees the integration of all program activities for a high quality Wellness Program. Programming includes managing gymnastics, cheer, fitness, and massage. This individual works directly with the public and is committed to improving individuals health and wellness. In addition, this role offers site management on all center staffing needs, daily operations, training, safety, and security as well as collaborates with university department leadership for center needs.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight, administrative direction and guidance to staff aligning within the department 
  • Demonstrates consistent ability to work cooperatively with clients, families, consultants, and community agencies, as well as therapists, therapy assistants, aides, student interns and volunteers 
  • Continual assessment and evaluation of client needs to develop annual schedules, activities, and programs that will include a range of revenue producing events 
  • Supervision of wellness activities and evaluates performance of each department staff member 
  • Implementation and interpretation of facility policies
  • Creation of procedural alignment with facility policies 
  • Regular documentation and audits to ensure compliance with policy and regulations 
  • Instruction and training staff in areas of customer service, hospitality, infection control, cleaning, safety and personnel policies 
  • Maintains employee records on in-service education training completion and attendance of each staff member 
  • Assists in budget preparation and establishes profit goals as well as provides input on staffing needs 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study is required

Experience

  • Experience and understanding of business and a passion for fitness
  • Experience in marketing and sales is highly desired

Required Skills

  • Physical demands - lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. (occasionally); 35 lbs. (frequently); and 16 lbs. (constantly) from varied heights (floor to overhead)
  • Occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, reaching (overhead and forward); kneeling, climbing, balancing, standing, walking and sitting
  • Manual finger dexterity for grasping, handling and manipulating
  • Use of both hands and arms are required to perform with dexterity of various tasks
