Job Description/Expectations
JOB TITLE: Quality Auditor
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: Mid-State/Quality
DATE DEVELOPED: 01/2023
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
POSITION SCOPE
The Quality Auditor is responsible for facilitating various quality activities which includes but is not limited to auditing, identifying defects, gauging product to meet customer requirements, facilitating containment, communicating with affected parties, training team members on part specific requirements, monitoring defect rates on in-process and finished production units and assisting with the Problem-Solving process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs and documents scheduled audits of cast/trim/secondary operations for quality standards.
  • Communicates information, problems to process techs, operators, team leaders and managers.
  • Maintains inspection records and reports.
  • Performs and documents 1st piece and end of run inspection.
  • Assist in containing non-conforming material including issuing of quality alerts and hold tickets.
  • Train production associates on quality standards and process changes as applicable.
  • Participates in problem solving activities and continuous improvement teams.
  • Work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
  • Prompt and effective follow up on issues, assigned tasks, improper or faulty equipment to proper supervisor.
  • Learn new tasks and adapt to frequent job duty changes as required by business and manpower demands.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area consistent with safety, 5-S, and work rules and regulations.
  • Work overtime hours as required and be available for emergency overtime when the need arises.
  • Regularly report for work on time with a desire to perform to the best of your abilities.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed.
  • Such other duties as are assigned from time-to-time.

  • Complies with all company employment policies, procedures/processes, and programs. Performs duties in compliance quality, safety, and manufacturing requirements.

  • Experience using inspection and gauging equipment (calipers, micrometers, snap gauges and pin gauges).
  • Knowledge of parts and manufacturing process including work and inspection instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic computers.
  • High School Diploma preferred

  • Possess good physical stamina and coordination. Specific physical requirements of the position include the ability to continuously and repetitively:
    • Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
    • Read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections.
    • Promptly detect and respond to visual and auditory safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
    • Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and steel-toed safety shoes.
    • Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold).
    • Bend, twist, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform work.
    • Use hand positioning to grip/grasp parts, devices, measuring tools and other equipment.
    • Ability to see clearly at close and distance ranges, distinguish colors, maintain peripheral vision, perceive depth, and adjust focus as necessary.
  • Frequently and repetitively:
    • Lift or carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally care or lift materials weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Occasionally sit and/or climb (including ladders and lifts).
  • Recognizes potential exposure to environmental, mechanical, chemical, electrical, and explosive hazards.
