Core Casting Group information

What is a core casting group?

A Core Casting Group is a company or agency that specializes in selecting and hiring background actors, also known as extras, for film, television, and commercial productions. They are responsible for finding people to fill non-speaking roles that help create realistic scenes. Core Casting Groups work closely with production teams to understand their casting needs and ensure the right talent is on set. Their work is crucial for bringing authenticity to large crowd scenes or everyday backgrounds in visual media.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a casting director at a core casting group?

To excel as a Casting Director, you need a keen eye for talent, strong organizational skills, and experience in film, television, or theater production, often supported by a relevant degree or industry background. Familiarity with casting databases, audition management software, and industry-standard tools is crucial for streamlining the selection process. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills help build relationships with actors, agents, and production teams. These competencies ensure effective casting decisions that align with creative vision and production timelines.

What are some typical challenges faced when working in a core casting group, and how can new members prepare for them?

Working in a casting group often involves balancing multiple projects with tight deadlines and rapidly changing client needs. New members may initially find the pace and volume of requests challenging, especially during busy production periods. To succeed, it's important to develop strong organizational skills, maintain clear communication with both talent and production teams, and stay adaptable to shifting priorities. Collaboration and a proactive approach to problem-solving are key, as casting decisions frequently impact the success of entire productions.

As a provider with Riverside Health Medical Group, you would join a team of providers who are respected leaders and part of our collaborative care delivery team. Our providers care for our patients as if they are those they love. Our core values are built into our provider compact that outlines our dedication to our patients as our first priority. Our providers encourage patient involvement, embrace change, and take ownership in the success of the team and the organization. If that resonates with you, we would like to speak to you.
Hiring Range: $120,000.00- $155,000.00
Actual pay depends on specialty, experience, and performance
Riverside Health is seeking an experienced or highly motivated Orthopedic Hand Sub-Specialized Advanced Practice Provider to join our dynamic orthopedic team.
This role is designed for a clinically focused APP who will support the evaluation, treatment, and longitudinal care of patients with hand, wrist, and upper extremity conditions in collaboration with a dedicated orthopedic hand surgeon, who will serve as the APP's sole supervising physician.
This is a primarily outpatient, clinic-based role with no current inpatient or trauma coverage expectations. The successful candidate will serve as a key clinical presence within the orthopedic hand practice, supporting timely access, high-quality patient care, continuity across the care journey, and the continued growth of a dedicated hand and upper extremity program within Riverside Orthopedics. The APP will have a regular clinic footprint in both Newport News and Williamsburg and should be comfortable supporting patients across both locations as part of the ongoing practice model.
Experience in orthopedics, hand surgery, upper extremity care, or musculoskeletal medicine is preferred.
Key Responsibilities and Information
  • Provide high-quality clinical care for patients with hand, wrist, and upper extremity conditions, including acute injuries, chronic conditions, post-operative needs, and non-operative musculoskeletal concerns.
  • Serve as a primary clinical resource for patient evaluation, follow-up care, treatment planning support, patient education, and care coordination within the orthopedic hand service.
  • Conduct comprehensive histories and physical examinations, order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies, and develop evidence-based care plans in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Support management of common and complex upper extremity diagnoses, including fractures, tendon and ligament injuries, nerve compression syndromes, arthritis, overuse injuries, wounds, and post-surgical recovery needs.
  • Provide primarily outpatient clinical coverage, with responsibilities focused on direct patient care, access support, post-operative visits, clinical triage, patient education, care coordination, and continuity of care.
  • Support care delivery across the Newport News and Williamsburg orthopedic clinic footprint as a regular part of the APP's practice.
  • Assist with procedures within the APP scope of practice, which may include injections, splinting/casting support, wound care, suture/staple removal, and other clinic-based interventions as appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with the supervising orthopedic hand surgeon, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, athletic trainers, therapy teams, imaging services, and the broader Riverside provider network.
  • Coordinate care with hand therapy, rehabilitation services, primary care, urgent care, emergency departments, and specialty providers to support excellent outcomes and patient experience.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, patient access strategies, clinical workflows, and the continued development of a high-quality outpatient hand and upper extremity practice.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, evidence-based practice, patient-centered care, and professional collaboration.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current or eligible licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, as applicable.
  • Orthopedic, hand surgery, upper extremity, emergency medicine, urgent care, sports medicine, or musculoskeletal experience preferred.
  • Experience with fracture care, post-operative orthopedic care, injections, splinting/casting, wound care, or upper extremity conditions preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative physician-led care model.
  • Commitment to quality outcomes, patient experience, access, and multidisciplinary care.
  • Ability and willingness to support a regular clinical footprint in both Newport News and Williamsburg.

What Sets You Apart
  • Experience or strong interest in orthopedic hand and upper extremity care.
  • Ability to provide a strong, reliable clinical presence in a busy outpatient orthopedic practice.
  • Genuine interest in the nuances of hand and upper extremity care, including chronic, neuropathic, soft-tissue, arthritic, post-operative, and non-operative musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Excellent patient communication and education skills.
  • Comfort managing a broad range of musculoskeletal and post-operative concerns in a primarily clinic-based setting.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach to patient care.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, evidence-based medicine, and continuous learning.
  • Interest in helping grow a high-quality hand and upper extremity program within Riverside Orthopedics.
