Job description

Proofreader and Copy Editor

Consistently ranking among American Banker magazine's "Best Banks to Work For" for over a decade, Zions Bancorporation is a "Collection of Great Banks" with local brand names and management teams in each of our major Western markets.

And because we've known that, for over 150 years, our success has come from the exceptional dedication, experience and talent of our diverse employee base, we're committed to being the premier employer of choice.

Ready to make your mark on a legacy brand?

Our expanding marketing team is building something special-a dynamic, in-house Creative Studio and innovative Demand Center that will transform how we connect with customers. Under fresh leadership from our newly appointed CMO, we're reimagining what marketing can be while supporting a bank known for its experienced bankers, exceptional service, and local leadership deeply rooted in the communities we serve. This isn't just another financial marketing role - it's your chance to shape a creative vision with real impact.

With benefits starting on day one, 12 bank holidays, profit sharing and company-matched 401(k) contributions, Zions is committed to career growth and advancement. At Zions, the possibilities are endless. If you're ready to create work that actually matters, we're ready to review your application.

You bring the talent; we bring the opportunity.

About the Role

Our in-house Creative Studio produces a high volume of marketing and communications assets across digital, print, paid, and earned media - and we hold every word, every pixel, and every link to the same standard we hold our brand. We're looking for a meticulous Proofreader and Copy Editor who takes genuine pride in getting it right before anything goes out the door.

This role sits at the intersection of language, compliance, and digital quality - and the right person will be as comfortable marking up a print brochure as they are clicking through a landing page to confirm every button routes where it should.

What You'll Do

Proofreading and Copy Editing

  • Review and edit all studio-produced assets for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style consistency, and brand voice across print, digital, paid media, social, and earned media formats
  • Apply and uphold brand style guidelines and editorial standards across all collateral
  • Partner with designers, copywriters, and project managers to flag issues early and turn edits around within Creative Studio timelines
  • Maintain and evolve internal proofreading checklists and style references as brand standards develop

Regulatory and Compliance Review

  • Work against established regulatory checklists to ensure all marketing collateral meets compliance requirements prior to submission
  • Identify and flag discrepancies - missing disclosures, incorrect legal language, unapproved claims - and partner with the Creative Studio team to resolve them
  • Track revisions through the compliance review process and ensure final approved versions are reflected accurately in production files
  • Stay current on relevant regulatory guidelines as they evolve within the financial services space

Digital QA

  • Conduct pre-launch quality assurance on digital assets including emails, landing pages, digital ads, and web content
  • Test all links, CTAs, buttons, and interactive elements to confirm functionality, correct routing, and consistent behavior across devices and browsers
  • Verify URL query strings, tracking tags, and destination URLs against campaign briefs
  • Document and communicate QA findings clearly so issues can be resolved before go-live

What You Bring

  • A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, or a related field with 3-5  years of proofreading and copy-editing experience, ideally within financial services, a regulated industry, or a high-volume in-house or agency environment
  • A sharp editorial eye and genuine comfort with style guides, legal language, and disclosure copy
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance review processes in a financial services or similarly regulated context - or the demonstrated ability to quickly learn and rigorously apply a compliance framework
  • Experience performing digital QA, including link testing, CTA verification, and cross-device/browser review
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assets in various stages of review simultaneously
  • A collaborative, low-ego approach - this role is a critical quality gate, and the best person for it understands that getting it right matters more than being right

Nice to Have

  • Experience with project management or creative workflow tools (Workfront or similar)
  • Familiarity with HTML basics or the ability to read source code to verify tracking parameters
  • Prior experience working within a financial services in-house studio or marketing team
  • Knowledge of FINRA and FDIC regulatory frameworks

This is an in-office position that will sit at our downtown Salt Lake City offices. This is not a hybrid role.

Benefits:

  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance - START DAY ONE!
  • Life and Disability Insurance, Paid Parental Leave and Adoption Assistance
  • Health Savings (HSA), Flexible Spending (FSA) and dependent care accounts
  • Paid Training, Paid Time Off (PTO) and 11 Paid Federal Holidays, and any applicable state holidays
  • 401(k) plan with company match, Profit Sharing, competitive compensation in line with work experience
  • Mental health benefits including coaching and therapy sessions
  • Tuition Reimbursement for qualifying employees enrolled in an accredited degree program related to the needs of the business, maximum of $5,250 per calendar year, employees are eligible for the program upon hire
  • Employee Ambassador preferred banking productsÂ
