We're looking for a Principal Software Engineer to play a critical leadership role in the evolution of our platform. In this role, you'll partner closely with Engineering, Product, Architecture, and DevOps teams to design, build, and scale modern full-stack solutions that power billions of customer interactions.

As a technical leader, you'll influence architectural strategy, drive innovation, mentor engineers, and lead large-scale initiatives that directly impact the future of our products and platform.

What You'll Do

  • Drive architectural strategy and technical direction across backend services and modern front-end applications.
  • Design and build scalable APIs, integrations, and distributed systems that support increasing data volume and complexity.
  • Lead the modernization of legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native full-stack solutions.
  • Guide the evolution of our front-end architecture, including Vue.js, TypeScript, accessibility standards, and design systems.
  • Partner with Product and business stakeholders to improve data models and enable data-driven decision making.
  • Facilitate architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and cross-functional engineering initiatives.
  • Champion engineering excellence through best practices in testing, observability, security, performance, and developer experience.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Codex.
  • Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes to validate new technical approaches.
  • Mentor engineers across the organization and help elevate technical leadership, design thinking, and architectural capabilities.
  • Influence long-term platform strategy and contribute to the Product Development roadmap.
  • Participate in the engineering on-call rotation.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, architecture, data engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Extensive experience designing and delivering scalable, distributed systems.
  • Expert-level proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C#, .NET, Java, or similar.
  • Strong full-stack development experience, including modern front-end frameworks and backend services.
  • Advanced-to-expert knowledge of modern front-end development, including Vue.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Deep understanding of front-end architecture and component design.
  • Experience building cloud-native applications, preferably in AWS.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with distributed data and event-driven technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, Presto, or similar platforms.
  • Proven ability to design scalable API contracts and integrations across front-end and backend systems.
  • Strong understanding of software testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability platforms, and modern engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated success leading architectural initiatives and producing technical design documentation.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, analytical, and decision-making skills.
