Job description

Pharmacy Manager

The Pharmacy Manager is a working supervisor, providing professional pharmacy services to CCHS patients in addition to supervising the general operations of the Pharmacy Department.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Delegating to pharmacy staff members the filling of prescriptions and administrative tasks, and then supervising their completion and accuracy.
  2. Counseling patients and maintaining computerized confidential patient records of drug therapies to prevent harmful drug interaction. Answering patients' questions and providing information on medications and health.
  3. Managing cash, maintaining financial records, and maintaining and reporting staff payroll information.
  4. Serving as liaison between patients and medical providers in order to catch and prevent prescription errors.
  5. Maintaining inventory of supplies and placing orders, as appropriate.
  6. Ensuring the Pharmacy meets and maintains federal and state requirements and regulations.
  7. Performing other duties, as required.

This position directly supervises:

  • Pharmacy Technicians
  • Pharmacy Cashiers

Total incumbents: 3 - 4

Position requirements include:

Education: Degree from School of Pharmacy

Experience: Minimum of three years working in a community retail pharmacy.

Licenses or Certifications: Doctor of Pharmacy, Tennessee pharmacy license, BLS

Mental Requirements:

Level 3– Requires a high level of concentration and high level of attention intermittently. Generally, the approach to tasks may be consistent, but the number of steps required and/or the number of variables involved creates the possibility of errors unless the incumbent pays close attention.

Physical Requirements:

Approximate percentage of time spent lifting, pulling and/or pushing: About a half-hour per day.

Maximum number of pounds required (with or without assistance): 10 to 20 lbs.
