The Senior DevOps Engineer will design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce development, manage Salesforce environments, and ensure quality and security standards are met.
Responsibilities:
• Designing, developing, and maintaining Copado CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce development on the Medicaid Enterprise Systems Hub (MESH)
• Developing, configuring, and managing multiple Salesforce environments (development, testing, UAT, staging, production) using Copado, and ensuring metadata deployments are synchronized and consistent across the MESH org
• Configuring quality gates including code reviews, automated test execution, code-quality checks, and security scans within the CI/CD pipeline so promotions to Validation, Staging, and Production meet CMS deliverable performance standards (e.g., 90% automated test coverage, 0 lint errors)
• Promoting and applying an automation-first approach to reduce manual configurations within the Salesforce platform by writing custom scripts, configuring robotic process automation, and automating recurring deployment tasks
• Managing Salesforce releases in coordination with development, QA, security, and CMS business teams, supporting the cadence of bi-weekly promotions to the Validation environment expected on MESH
• Implementing strategies for rapid data and metadata restoration in case of deployment failures, including tested rollback paths and recovery runbooks
• Leading Salesforce backup and restore strategies, including scheduling data backups, maintaining restoration runbooks, and validating recovery times on a recurring basis
• Leading continuous improvements and enhancements to the CI/CD pipeline and team development workflows to evolve best practices and reduce lead time, change failure rate, and mean time to recovery
• Setting up monitoring and alerting on Salesforce deployments, Copado pipelines, and integrated services (T-MSIS, MBES/MacFin, Microsoft 365, DataConnect) to detect and address issues
• Documenting DevOps code-promotion patterns, back-promotion procedures, environment topology, and operational runbooks in CMS-approved tools (Confluence, Box, GitHub)
• Providing technical support, troubleshooting, and training to the development team on continuous integration and continuous deployment best practices, ensuring all developers complete the Copado training required by CMS OIT prior to deploying to the CMS Salesforce org
• Implementing observability tools within the Salesforce platform to gain insights into system performance, reliability, and utilization to proactively identify potential issues
• Configuring alerts on system issues and leading incident response in collaboration with development and security teams
• Configuring security tools and Salesforce permission sets to enforce zero-trust security strategies and least-privilege access controls
• Supporting transition-in and transition-out activities including repository, pipeline, and environment hand-off in accordance with CMS contract requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
• All candidates must pass public trust clearance through the U.S. Federal Government. This requires candidates to either be U.S. citizens or pass clearance through the Foreign National Government System which will require that candidates have lived within the United States for at least 3 out of the previous 5 years, have a valid and non-expired passport from their country of birth and appropriate VISA/work permit documentation
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
• 8+ years of DevSecOps experience with cloud architectures, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and security tools
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools, log aggregation, and security tools within the Salesforce Platform
• Experience with Copado Data Deploy and Salesforce Data Loader
• Knowledgeable of Salesforce platform capabilities, governor limits, Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, APIs, and declarative development tools
• Knowledgeable of Salesforce testing frameworks and best practices for automated testing
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools including Terraform and AWS CloudFormation, and configuration management tools such as Ansible
• Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence
• Familiarity with Own Backup and Restore is a plus
• Experience with AWS Cloud is a plus
• Strong proven analytical ability and ability to solve problems independently
Preferred:
• 5+ years managing multiple Salesforce applications and environments (e.g., development, testing, UAT, staging, production)
• Copado Fundamentals I and Copado Fundamentals II
• Copado Consultant Certification is preferred
• Salesforce Certified Administrator is preferred
• Federal Government contracting work experience, particularly with CMS, MACBIS, or other HHS programs
• Experience supporting FedRAMP Moderate ATO maintenance and CMS continuous monitoring requirements
