Job description

Position Overview – COMPANY NAME: CAT5% 
We are seeking a Construction Coordinator to support ongoing cable plant construction and maintenance projects for a major telecommunications provider in Central Texas. 
Despite the title, this is NOT an administrative coordinator role. This is a field-first leadership position that functions much more like a Construction Supervisor or Assistant Construction Manager. The successful candidate will spend significant time in the field overseeing crews, driving production, coordinating daily activities, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. 
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Aerial Foreman, Crew Lead, Lead Lineman, Construction Supervisor, or hands-on Construction Manager looking to step into a larger leadership role while remaining connected to field operations. 
Key Responsibilities 
Field Leadership & Daily Operations 

  • Provide direct oversight of aerial construction crews and subcontractors. 
  • Manage daily production activities across active telecom construction projects. 
  • Coordinate field operations to ensure schedules and production targets are achieved. 
  • Conduct field visits and monitor work quality, safety, and productivity. 
  • Lead daily planning discussions and communicate project priorities. 
  • Ensure crews have the resources, information, and support needed to execute work successfully. 

Aerial Telecom Construction 

  • Oversee aerial cable plant construction and maintenance activities. 
  • Support projects involving: 
    • Pole line construction 
    • Strand installation 
    • Cable lashing 
    • Make-ready work 
    • Line extensions 
    • Service drops 
    • Aerial maintenance 
    • Node and amplifier work 
  • Ensure work is completed according to customer specifications and quality standards. 

Production & Reporting 

  • Track daily production and crew performance. 
  • Review and manage work orders. 
  • Coordinate permits, locates, and project requirements. 
  • Monitor punch list completion and quality control activities. 
  • Communicate project status updates to leadership. 

Safety & Compliance 

  • Enforce company and industry safety standards. 
  • Conduct field audits and quality inspections. 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable construction practices and regulations. 
  • Promote a culture of accountability and safe work execution. 

Crew & Subcontractor Management 

  • Coordinate multiple crews and subcontractors simultaneously. 
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback. 
  • Support employee development and team leadership initiatives. 
  • Maintain positive working relationships across field and office teams. 

Required Qualifications 
Aerial Construction Experience (Must-Have) 

  • Strong aerial telecom construction background is required. 
  • Experience with aerial outside plant (OSP), HFC, coax, or fiber construction. 
  • Hands-on knowledge of: 
    • Strand 
    • Lashing 
    • Make-ready 
    • Pole transfers 
    • Service drops 
    • Aerial maintenance 
    • Pole line construction 

Leadership Experience 

  • Experience leading crews, crews leads, or subcontractors. 
  • Prior experience as: 
    • Aerial Foreman 
    • Crew Supervisor 
    • Field Supervisor 
    • Construction Manager 
    • Lead Lineman 
    • Similar field leadership role 
  • Experience managing daily production and field operations. 

Telecommunications Industry Background 
Candidates from the following environments are highly desirable: 

  • Major cable providers 
  • MSOs (Multiple System Operators) 
  • Telecom construction contractors 
  • Fiber construction companies 
  • OSP construction organizations 

Technical & Operational Experience 

  • Daily production reporting. 
  • Quality control and punch list management. 
  • Work order management. 
  • Permit and utility locate coordination. 
  • Construction scheduling and field execution. 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
