The successful candidate will provide hands-on consultation, training, resources, strategic planning, and accompaniment of ministry leaders throughout the Diocese of Raleigh.
This position is primarily dedicated to the areas of youth and young adult ministries, although the need may arise to provide similar services to other parish ministries.
This is a remote position with periodic high levels of travel (2-3 times per week) throughout the Diocese of Raleigh, and intermittent meetings at the Catholic Center in Raleigh. Employees of the diocese use their own vehicles and are reimbursed on a per-mile basis.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide consultation to pastors, staff members, and ministry leaders, including guidance in discernment, strategic planning, logistics, team building, resources, and formation.
  • Identify and provide leadership opportunities in:
    • Experiences to encounter Christ

    • Recruitment and retention of ministry members
    • Evangelization pathways
  • Encourage ministry leaders and ministry members in:

    • Gifts discernment and application
  • Coordinate spiritual enrichment experiences for ministry leaders to include:
    • Retreats in a variety of formats
    • Conferences, retreats, and trainings both within and outside the diocese
  • Other Office of Evangelization and Discipleship (OED) duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Practicing Catholic in conformity with the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • 5+ years of experience in dynamic, evangelization-based ministry to include kerygmatic proclamation, conversion-oriented discipleship, small group discipleship, and developing spiritual gifts and charisms.
  • 3+ years of ministry leadership experience including supervision of others in ministry, development of professional ministers and lay volunteers, and formation of individuals and groups of ministry volunteers.
  • 5+ years of experience working in ministry to youth and/or young adults.
  • B.A. or higher preferred in ministry, catechesis, theology, or a related field.
  • Extensive formation in the competencies of evangelization, discipleship, small groups, and lay ministry development.
  • Formation through the Encounter School of Ministry is highly valued; successful candidates without this specific training in teaching, equipping, and activating disciples to demonstrate the love of God in their spheres must be open to receiving it upon hire.
  • Ability to fulfill a minimum of a weekly supervisory meeting (usually virtual), a monthly in-person team meeting, additional departmental meetings, and periodic OED Office and diocesan events as needed.
  • Professional demeanor reflective of the values and mission of the Diocese of Raleigh.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background and reference check; must complete Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training upon hire.
