Job description

Summit Camps, a subsidiary of Royal Camp Services Ltd, is recruiting for workforce camp-based positions. We offer an inclusive work environment, competitive wages and a benefits package available following probationary period. Travel is also covered from your point of departure.

Primary Role: Prepare and serve all breakfast items in a safe and timely manner while ensuring high quality and presentation

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and serve all hot and cold breakfast items daily in accordance with menu plan and mealtime schedule
  • Clean up and store all breakfast food promptly following mealtimes, and ensure all equipment is clean for the next shift
  • Clean all pans and utensils used during the cooking/preparing process as required
  • Prepare hot lunch or other secondary meals as needed
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Head Cook
  • Assist with unloading and storage of grocery deliveries when required
  • Ensure food safety standards are met and always maintained
  • Ensure workspace, storage areas and kitchen are clean, organized, and sanitized
  • Direct and monitor kitchen prep staff when head cook is not on shift
  • Communicate with Head cook for direction regarding camp numbers, food quality and quantity
  • Practice safe work procedures and rectify or report any safety hazards immediately
  • Complete a daily Field Level Hazard Assessment and Hazard Identification document (HID) as needed
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times

Qualifications:

  • The Breakfast Cook position is typically a night shift, but often begins very early in the morning (3:00am) in smaller operations
  • Must be able to live in a remote camp environment for up to 4 weeks, working 12-hour shifts
  • Recognized Advanced Food Handlers Certificate
  • Certificate or diploma in Cooking is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years cooking in high volumes
  • Must supply own travel to our transport sites located in Edmonton or Grande Prairie
  • Standard First Aid required
  • Must be able to lift, move, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Good physical stamina; capable of working long hours on your feet
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test prior to employment and work/live in a drug and alcohol-free camp environment for up to 4 weeks at a time.
