Position: Substitute Lunchroom Worker - As Needed Basis - 2026-2027 School Year
Department: Food Services
Classification: Lunchroom Worker
Reports To: Lunchroom Manager or Cafeteria Manager
General Duties: Responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals, and for cleaning cooking utensils and equipment.
Specific Performance Duties:
1. Cleans, peels vegetables and prepares for cooking
2. Prepares salads, sandwiches, and desserts
3. Cleans and prepares meats for cooking
4. Washes pots, pans, trays, serving utensils and disinfects all food
preparation surfaces
5. Thaws and serves food in the proper manner
6. Holds and serves food at correct temperature, whether hot or cold
7. Serves food to students as they pass by the serving counter
8. Assists in baking (i.e., cookies and cakes)
9. Assists with inventory and ordering
10. May operate point of sale equipment or cash box, make and receive
change, balance out register or box
11. Maintains student confidentiality regarding Free and Reduced Lunch
Program
12. May count money at the end of the day and deposit the money in the
bank
13. May maintain lunchroom records and prepare simple reports
14. May perform back-up for the cook/manager
15. Attends inservice and training programs
16. Performs other duties as assigned
