Food Service Worker

Bedford High School

4.75 hours per day


Description:
To assist the Cook/Manager in the effort to insure an efficient and harmonious operation of the school cafeteria, adhering to federal and state program guidelines.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
Responsibilities:
Assist the cook /manager in preparing, serving and clean-up of the kitchen.
Assist cook/manager in filling out production records, recording meal counts, preparing cash reports, taking inventory and placing orders.
Transport money, invoices and time sheets to the food service office.
Assist in setting up functions and keeping track of products taken by teachers and administrators.
Assist the cook/manager in the checking in and the storing of deliveries.
Inform cook/manager of products that are running low and need to be ordered.
Ensure proper procedures for recognizing students receiving free, reduced and paid lunches are being followed and accurately recorded.
Attend meetings called by the Food Service Director.
Inform Food Service Director of any problems or concerns.
Adhere to proper sanitation and safety procedures.
Report inappropriate student behavior to a teacher or the principal.
Fill in for cook/manager when needed.
Adhere to uniform policy.
Serve as a positive role model for students.
Uphold the highest standards of customer service.
Perform other duties as assigned by the cook/manager or Food Service Director.
Qualifications:
Perform simple math equations.
Prepare and cook in large quantities.
Evidence knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures and practices.
Ability to prepare and set up catering functions.
Lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
The ability to stand for a 3-6 hour shift.
Ability to enter a walk-in freezer.
Salary/Benefits:
Per BSCEA contract, $19.10/hr
