Description
The Convention Services Manager (CSM) coordinates meetings, conventions, and special events within a hotel or venue. They act as the primary liaison between clients and internal departments (e.g., catering, banquets, and audiovisual), managing logistics like room blocks, event layouts, and billing to ensure flawless execution and high guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Event Detailing: Translates client needs into detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and group resumes.
Logistics & Coordination: Oversees meeting space setup, audiovisual (A/V) needs, group room blocks, and food and beverage requirements.
Cross-Departmental Communication: Acts as the central point of contact, keeping all hotel teams informed of itinerary updates and specific group needs.
On-Site Management: Manages event execution, conducts pre-and post-convention meetings with the client, and troubleshoots any issues that arise.
Revenue & Sales: Conducts property site inspections, identifies up-selling opportunities (such as room rental and specialty menus), and helps secure repeat business. [4, 10].
Qualifications
Experience: Typically requires 1-3 years of experience in hospitality, catering sales, or event management.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Planning, or a related field is heavily preferred.
