POSITION SUMMARY

State Mechanical Services is seeking an experienced Building Automation & Controls Manager to support the growth and execution of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and controls-related services across our service and construction operations.

This role combines technical expertise, customer relationship management, commissioning leadership, controls engineering support, and business development to deliver high-quality solutions for our customers. The ideal candidate is a self-driven BAS professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, developing customer relationships, and helping grow a successful controls operation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development

  • Identify and develop BAS retrofit, upgrade, replacement, and modernization opportunities
  • Expand controls-related service and maintenance offerings
  • Support proposal development and customer presentations
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Service Managers, and Construction leadership to identify growth opportunities
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships

Controls Engineering & Technical Support

  • Develop controls concepts and sequences of operation
  • Support controls drawings, submittals, and project documentation
  • Assist with equipment integration and controls interoperability
  • Evaluate emerging BAS technologies and solutions
  • Provide technical expertise to internal and external stakeholders

Project Support & Commissioning

  • Lead BAS commissioning activities
  • Verify system performance and functionality
  • Support project startup, owner training, and project closeout
  • Coordinate controls-related activities with service, operations, and construction teams
  • Troubleshoot controls-related issues and recommend solutions

Customer Support

  • Provide technical consultation and guidance to customers
  • Support long-term customer retention and account growth
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and responsiveness
  • Identify opportunities to improve building performance and operational efficiency


QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 10+ years of commercial HVAC, controls, building automation, commissioning, or related experience
  • Experience selling, designing, programming, commissioning, or supporting BAS systems
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls architecture, and building automation technologies
  • Experience developing customer relationships and identifying business opportunities
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across multiple departments

COMPENSATION
