Role: Controls Technician

We are looking for a highly skilled HVAC DDC Senior Controls Technician who will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of direct digital control (DDC) systems in commercial and industrial HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of HVAC control systems, programming, and integration, with a focus on energy efficiency and system optimization. This role requires excellent technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and leadership skills to supervise and guide a team of technicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, program, and commission DDC systems for HVAC equipment, including controllers, sensors, actuators, and network devices.
  • Conduct system testing, verification, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to design and implement control strategies and sequences of operations.
  • Lead a team of technicians in performing installations, repairs, and upgrades of DDC systems.
  • Conduct training sessions and provide technical guidance to junior technicians.
  • Perform regular system maintenance and preventive measures to ensure smooth operations and maximize system efficiency.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to DDC controls and HVAC systems.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, including system configurations, changes, and updates.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in HVAC controls.

Requirements:

  • 1 year of experience as an HVAC controls technician, with a focus on DDC systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and related equipment.
  • Proficiency in programming and configuring DDC controllers (e.g., Niagara 4/ ax, Johnson, Distech, Honeywell, etc.).
  • Experience with integrating DDC systems with building management systems (BMS) and other automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and communication standards (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret control schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership abilities and experience in supervising and guiding a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Niagara 4, HVAC controls certifications, DDC programming certifications) are preferred.

Estimated Salary: $24 - 30 hourly, with flexibility based on experience and skills.
