Job description

Title:

Project Controls Manager

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is looking for a Manager, Project Controls, to be accountable for the performance of the project controls discipline or a sub-group within the project controls organization. You will manage the delivery of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to team members. You will participate in the development of the execution strategy and the implementation of procedures for cost control, change management, project performance measurement, scheduling, and risk controls.

This position is based in ourNewark, DE office, withflexible work arrangementsincluding a hybrid schedule with occasional remote working. Domestic travel to client sites and other KBR offices may be required as needed for project and department support.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage, develop, and mentor a team of skilled mid-level and junior project controls specialists.

  • Lead cost control, scheduling, change management, risk management, and performance measurement across a portfolio of capital projects.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align project controls with engineering, procurement, and construction processes.

  • Evaluate project performance and proactively recommend corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with KBR's project controls procedures and client-specific requirements.

  • Evaluate project contractual terms and ensure that the project controls processes align with any project specific commercial requirements.

  • Conduct readiness reviews, quality audits, and interactive planning sessions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration.

  • 10+ years of EPC project controls experience in energy, chemicals, or manufacturing.

  • Strong understanding of front-end loading (FEL) and detailed engineering phases.

  • Proficiency in earned value management, cost forecasting, and variance analysis.

  • Experience with P6 scheduling and interactive planning.

  • Advanced Excel skills and excellent communication abilities.

Preferred: Knowledge of the following PC's concepts, processes, and software applications is beneficial.

  • Familiarity with SAP PS, EcoSys, and MS Power BI.

  • Experience with schedule risk assessments, benchmarking, and advanced work packaging.

  • Knowledge of project cost estimating and financial performance metrics.

  • Understanding of AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) recommended practicesand their application in project controls.
