About the Company

This organization is a long-established construction services provider with nearly a century of experience delivering complex, large-scale projects. The company partners with major national and global enterprises, including Fortune 500–level clients, and supports work across diverse commercial and industrial environments.

Known for handling high-value, technically complex projects, the organization emphasizes disciplined project execution, strong operational controls, and long-term client relationships.

About the Role

An established construction services organization is seeking an entry-level Project Controls Specialist to support active projects from initial setup through closeout. This role is well suited for recent graduates or early-career professionals interested in cost control, forecasting, and operational analysis within a project-based environment.

The position works closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to monitor performance, track costs, analyze variances, and support data-driven decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Ongoing mentorship, recurring project reviews, and formal performance feedback are part of the role.

This is a temp-hire opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project setup activities, including work breakdown structures and baseline budgets
  • Assist with cost tracking, variance analysis, and reconciliation of labor and material expenses
  • Prepare short-term and long-term cost forecasts and final cost summaries
  • Contribute to earned value analysis, including percent-complete calculations and performance indicators
  • Help support project scheduling, billing cycles, and closeout documentation
  • Develop weekly and monthly project reporting for internal stakeholders
  • Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to project leadership
  • Collaborate with peers and senior staff in recurring operational and project review meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience (internships or co-op experience acceptable)
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in spreadsheet tools (e.g., pivot tables, lookup functions)
  • Experience with collaborative spreadsheet platforms and file version control
  • Proficiency with standard office productivity software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to project cost controls, construction accounting, or earned value concepts
  • Experience with enterprise project accounting or cost management systems
