Purpose of the Position:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for leading controls engineering activities supporting new vehicle programs, design changes, and product lifecycle initiatives. Serves as the controls engineer for Series Planning, ensuring manufacturing systems, equipment, and automation are prepared for future vehicle requirements while maintaining MBUSI and global standards.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead controls engineering activities for new vehicle introductions, facelifts, and model year changes.
  • Evaluate product design changes for impact to automation, PLC software, robotics, field devices, HMIs, and production processes.
  • Coordinate implementation of design changes with Process Engineering, Maintenance, Production, IT, and international planning teams.
  • Maintain change documentation and controls implementation schedules.
  • Develop and/ or maintain controls requirements and technical specifications for capital projects.
  • Participate in equipment buy-offs.
  • Coordinate controls integration during equipment installation and commissioning.
  • Support project execution during shutdowns and launch events.
  • Ensure new equipment complies with MBUSI and global Mercedes-Benz controls standards.
  • Support lifecycle planning for controls technologies associated with future programs.
  • Serve as the primary controls interface between Series Planning, Production Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Quality, IT, and international engineering teams.
  • Participate in simultaneous engineering meetings and product development reviews.
  • Coordinate controls readiness for build events, prototype trials, pilot builds, and production launches.
  • Coordinate controls activities during installation, commissioning, and launch.
  • Support PLC software validation, network verification, and process optimization.
  • Lead controls issue resolution during launch phases.

Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to management, including your supervisor, or the Safety Department. Work safely 100% of the time.

Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.

Education

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

A minimum of five (5) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s):Experience required working with Rockwell control platforms.
