Job description

The PLC Controls Engineer I implements electrical projects for an integrated system or sub-system.

The Engineer provides planning, reporting and management of the electrical project, in addition to technical implementation.Takes full ownership of the electrical project elements and executes (and/or delegates) individual tasks throughout the project life cycle by coordinating and forecasting electrical resources in-house and on site (may include other Software Project Engineers). The Engineer takes a systems approach in understanding core design features, project elements, overall electrical architecture and manages the scope, budget, schedule, maintaining internal and external customer expectations throughout the project life cycle.

You will report directly to our Software Engineer Manager, and you'll work out of our Mason, Ohio location on a Hybrid work schedule.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar degree
    Ability and willingness to travel up 50-60% of the time
    Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, PanelView HMI, MS Office 365
    Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Programming and Electrical Design of: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff Programmable Logic Controllers; Variable Frequency
    Drive (VFD) programming and setup Network Protocols; Human-machine Interface system design
    Effective writing and verbal skills
    Tools and software - Logix 5000, Studio 5000, RSLinx, FactoryTalk View, B&R Automation Studio, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement automation projects for material handling clients.
    Develop and implement PLC code forthe material handling equipment.
    Review AutoCAD layouts and schematics to program the projects.
    Test PLC prototypes internally and on site for new/changes in the project.
    Assess programming and commissioning methods to ensure development of standard coding aremet with Intelligrated standards.
    Executes all test plans on-site, both internal and customer acceptance/BUAT/UAT/FAT
    Monitors and works from project tasks lists and timelines; reports progress on a regular basis
    Assists with storing turnover documentation in proper location
    Contributes to test plans (Internal, In-House, Site, Commissioning, and Acceptance)
    Attends weekly team meetings; reviews scheduled tasks/timelines
    Be able to convey information concisely to inter-disciplinary teams and management.
    Report technical updates from the projects for tracking the status of the projects.
    Conduct customer training while on site regarding the use of machinery.
    Electrical drawings and schematics, using AutoCAD Schematics, Layouts and Network layouts in electrical design software and tools (AutoCAD Electrical preferred)
    Utilize electrical design principles and practices for electrical design
