Engineering Intern (Mechatronics Engineering) – Amico Clinical Solutions
Richmond Hill, ON

Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Engineering Intern with a background in Mechatronics Engineering to support product development, engineering automation, testing, data analysis, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary engineering team on mechanical, electrical, software, and automation-related projects. This position is well suited for a student who enjoys solving technical problems, working with both hardware and software, and developing tools that improve engineering workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with engineering workflow automation, including CAD configurations, templates, data extraction, and document generation.
  • Work with sensors, motors, controllers, embedded systems, and other electromechanical components as required.
  • Develop scripts, utilities, or small software tools to automate repetitive engineering tasks.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and present engineering and test data.
  • Assist with the development of dashboards, reports, and data-visualization tools.
  • Support CAD modelling, drawing preparation, design updates, and product documentation.
  • Support the design, development, testing, and documentation of mechanical and electromechanical products.
  • Assist with prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and design verification.
  • Develop scripts, utilities, or small software tools to automate repetitive engineering tasks.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and present engineering and test data.
  • Prepare technical reports, test procedures, work instructions, and presentations.
  • Support root-cause investigations and recommend design or process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, Quality, and other internal teams.
  • Perform other engineering-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a recognized Mechatronics Engineering or closely related undergraduate program.
  • Programming knowledge in one or more languages such as:
  • Python
  • C or C++
  • JavaScript
  • Understanding of data collection, processing, analysis, and visualization.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design, electronics, sensors, motors, controls, or embedded systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with Onshape CAD software is considered an asset.
  • Experience with other 3D CAD platforms or creating manufacturing drawings.
  • Knowledge of Onshape configurations, FeatureScript, APIs, or engineering workflow automation.
  • Experience with data-analysis or visualization tools such as Python, Power BI, MATLAB, or advanced Excel.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, PLCs, robotics, motor controls, or embedded programming.
  • Previous engineering internship, co-op, academic project, robotics-team, or hands-on prototyping experience.
  • Familiarity with Git, APIs, databases, or cloud-based engineering tools.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes, sheet metal, machining, 3D printing, or product testing.
