Position Overview
We are looking for a Design Engineer with experience in power generation and industrial controls to support engineering design, programming, commissioning, and field support activities for generator and electrical control systems. This role will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver customized power generation solutions while also supporting installation, testing, troubleshooting, and customer operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and reviewing electrical wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and junction box drawings based on project requirements and customer specifications.
  • Work closely with project engineers and controls personnel to ensure technical documentation is completed accurately and delivered on schedule.
  • Support manufacturing teams by releasing project material lists and responding to technical fabrication questions.
  • Configure, modify, and troubleshoot automation and control programs for generator systems, PLCs, HMIs, relays, and related equipment.
  • Support commissioning, startup, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities for industrial generator packages and associated electrical systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service support for engine-driven power generation equipment.
  • Assist with installation, testing, and validation of generator control systems both in the shop and at customer sites.
  • Troubleshoot synchronization systems, generator controls, transfer systems, and electrical components.
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing and pre-shipment system verification activities.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers and provide technical support as needed.
  • Promote safe work practices and support company health, safety, and environmental standards.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 2-4 years of experience supporting power generation systems, controls engineering, or medium-voltage electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment such as switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, motors, and generator controls.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical standards and NEC requirements.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, and single-line drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, protective relays, and generator synchronization systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in electrical and controls environments.
  • Experience with industrial generator control platforms and engine management systems is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable supporting both office engineering work and field commissioning activities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and engineering-related software tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in team environments.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship requirements.

Work Environment & Travel
