Role:
Assistant Controller

Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller plays a key role within the accounting team, supporting the Controller in maintaining accurate financial reporting, executing an efficient month-end close process, and overseeing core accounting operations. This position partners closely with the Accounting Manager and Financial Analyst, while also interacting regularly with senior leadership, including the CFO.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional looking to grow within a dynamic, multi-location dealership environment and contribute to process improvements, financial integrity, and operational alignment.

Compensation:
Starting at $90,000 + Based on Experience

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Assist with month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Partner with the Accounting Manager on AP, AR, and banking processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Support cash management, bank reconciliations, and financing-related activities
  • Assist with audit preparation and external reporting requirements
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Supervise and mentor the Staff Accountant, providing guidance and performance feedback
  • Collaborate with the Controller, CFO, and cross-functional teams on reporting, budgeting, and ad hoc projects
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements across accounting operations

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Proficiency in ERP or dealership management systems (e.g., CDK, Procede, SAP, or similar)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred:
  • CPA designation (active, inactive, or in progress)
  • Experience in dealership environments (heavy equipment, automotive, trucking, etc.)
  • Familiarity with inventory or floorplan financing
  • Experience in multi-location or cross-border accounting
  • Background in process improvement initiatives
