Spectra Tech has an immediate need for a Controller at our Corporate Office in Oak Ridge, TN.


Job Overview:

The controller is a key financial leader within the organization reporting to the CFO and responsible for accounting, financial reporting and monthly closing activities and oversight. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information in a fast paced and high growth government contracting environment. This leader brings deep technical accounting experience, strong government contracting experience, and the ability to partner successfully with all areas within the business while leading, mentoring, and growing a world class accounting team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Lead and oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and work continuously to improve and shorten these processes.

2. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax fillings, audits, and industry specific government contracts reporting.

3. Lead the annual budget process.

4. Manage the annual external audit process and serve as the primary liaison with auditors.

5. Develop or enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

6. Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.

7. Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close process.

8. Optimize accounting workflows, ERP system utilization, and reporting accuracy.

9. Subject matter expert/admin for Unanet

10. Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff.

11. Lead or participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned.

12. Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather information and support business initiatives.

13. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights, support decision-making, and drive best financial practices across the organization.

14. Other special projects and duties as requested.

Ideal candidate will have:

ERP implementation experience, Unanet experience a plus

Background in government contracts, ICE reporting, and deep knowledge of FAR requirements.

Experience in growth-oriented environments with both organic and M&A activities.

International business experience.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

High attention to detail with a strategic mindset.

Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic hands-on environment.

Core values that demonstrate integrity, teamwork, transparency, and continuous improvement.

10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles, bachelor's degree in accounting, and MBA preferred.
